The restoration of Son Penyaflor is part of the work of the architect DR. Sebasti\u00e1n Gamund\u00ed<\/span><\/h6><\/div><\/div>

Sebasti\u00e1n Gamund\u00ed Boscana was the first architect from Llucmajor (Mallorca)<\/strong>, where he was born.<\/p>\n

He gained a PhD in architecture from the University of Barcelona and he bought the Son Penyaflor possessi\u00f3<\/em> together with his wife.<\/p>\n

Protecting the essence of the entire estate, he restored Son Penyaflor<\/strong> to turn it into a family home. And his design of the gardens highlighted the importance of the characteristic landscape of this area and ensured there were several places where you can enjoy being outside.<\/p>\n

His love of art led him to create agrotourism<\/strong> venture arose from the idea of taking part of the estate traditionally used for cattle and horses and maximising its huge potential. The restoration sought to enhance its rustic and picturesque character and give travellers the opportunity to discover the real Mallorca<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At the Son Penyaflor Agrotourism, opened in March 1995, a permanent selection of his oil paintings, pastel drawings and watercolours are on display.<\/p>\n

Sebasti\u00e1n Gamund\u00ed was behind other restoration projects, many of them in emblematic buildings, such as the Cathedral of Palma de Mallorca and its Diocesan Museum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We remember some words dedicated to Sebasti\u00e1n Gamund\u00ed by the then Bishop of Mallorca, Mons. Teodoro \u00dabeda, which encourage and inspire us:<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026our diocesan architect, who has been serving the Church of Mallorca with limitless generosity and an exceptional quality for more than 25 years and with whom I naturally have a very close friendship\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

He was the architect of the Diocese of Mallorca for over 40 years and when he was 80 he was honoured by the Vatican with the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice<\/strong><\/em> medal in recognition of his work as a diocese architect and on the Cathedral of Mallorca.<\/p>\n
