SON PENYAFLOR. ENJOY A STAY IN THE HEART OF NATURE:

LOCATION . In a superb estate deep in the SIERRA DE TRAMUNTANA range between Alaró and Orient.

DISTANCES . 1.5 km from Alaró; 9 km from Orient; 8 km. from Inca (motorway); 30 km. (by motorway) from Palma, port and airport; (roughly) 30 km from the ports of Alcudia and Pollensa.

ALARÓ . A lively town with a wide range of bars and restaurants. Saturday mornings: organ concert in the church and market in the square. Patron saint's festivities: first fortnight in August. Very busy.

ORIENT. A lovely town in the municipal area of Bunyola. Its splendid valley, its spectacular countryside or its idyllic mansion are all worth a visit.

ACTIVITIES . The outstanding location of Son Penyaflor allows numerous possibilities for practising HIKING (GR-221), CYCLE TOURISM, HORSE-RIDING, GOLF AND HISTORICAL ROUTES AROUND THE ‘SIERRA DE TRAMUNTANA' AND PICTURESQUE VILLAGES IN THE SURROUNDINGS (Santa María; Bunyola; Binissalem; Inca; Selva; Sóller; Escorca/Lluc: www.lluc.net ; etc.)

HIKING in the surroundings:
- Alaró Castle . About two hours' walk from Agroturismo Son Penyaflor. You can also get up to the castle from Orient.
- Es Tossals Verds . Old road Alaró-Lloseta, km. 5 (sign for ‘Es Tossals Verds', on the left, 1 km. before reaching Lloseta).
If you are driving, you can either park at the start of the slope up or alternatively drive up to the ‘Son Ordinas' car park. From here it is a one-hour walk up to the shelter (bar-restaurant/ reservations: +34 971 182 027). From here ‘Es Tossals Verds' peak is about a two-hour walk.
- S'Avenc de Coa Negra . A pleasant walk, from Santa María to ‘Avenc' (about two hours). If you want to go on, it will take a further three hours to get to Orient.
- S'Aucadena mountain . Located opposite Castillo de Alaró mountain, heading towards Orient from Son Penyaflor.

FLORA AND ORNITHOLOGY in Albufera de Alcudia
For bird watchers we can recommend observing the birds at s'Albufera lagoon (over 230 species). The route can be done on foot or by bicycle (rental service in the hotels close to the Albufera).
